You seem to be focused on the wrong things. The cost of living isn’t a huge factor when you’re not paying rent or things like that. Taxes are a little higher in CA, but isn’t big enough to make a difference if you’re already frugal. The cafeteria has extremely limited hours at MCAD too. If you live on campus at MCAD you don’t have to shovel snow, but having a car would be an inconvenience. If you have a car at LCAD, then you’ll be paying A LOT for gas. Think about the things that really matter.
MCAD is tight-knit. Just like high school cliques are tight-knit
woop, didnt notice these asks til now lol theyre kinda on the smarmy side anyway but i should acknowledge them
well, rent does matter for california as your first year you’ll maybe get a residence hall (which accompanies 21 people, so if you don’t get in……) but for your sophomore+ year you’re out on your own. then rent is very expensive. of course you can room, but in any tight budget situation you’re going to have to room anyway so why not make sure youre not paying $400 a month and still living with 3 other people?
public transportation isn’t that great in orange county, and no i wouldn’t have a car, so i would HAVE to live within feasible bus distance of LCAD’s campus. if i did by some chance get a car, commute and traffic in socal is miserable
as for rent mattering later on, i plan to continue living in the state im moving to after i graduate so that must be factored in also
idk if the same person left the “cliques” comment but im a big girl now, ive picked up in every aspect of everything there are cliques. at jobs, at school, on websites… it’s unavoidable. if i may say, im sure SoCal would be just as cliquey. i cant see a low class, overweight girl with glasses askew, who draws anime lesbians and wears sweatervests exactly fitting in along daisy dukes with bikinis on top. no matter where i go i will have to deal with people i dont exactly like or fit in with!
i’ve since decided to go to MCAD for a lot of reasons, i think i would be able to establish a life in Minnesota much cheaper, i really prefer dorms and a larger student body and i prefer a college whos alumni work i enjoy and a program i think will benefit me the most. even if i end up switching majors, MCAD allows you to dip into other programs too
